Our Awards
Each year, the WMTFOA honors deserving officials and athletes with a number of awards. Some, like the Vincent Falardeau and Nate Hale Awards, are always awarded to athletes. There is also the Dick Atkinson Award, which is given to someone who makes a positive contribution to the PVIAC Indoor Track & Field League. This award is sometimes given to an official, sometimes to an athlete, and sometimes to a group.
Then there are our awards specifically for officials. These include our annual Ted Dutkiewicz Award, given to an outstanding official for their work over the indoor and outdoor seasons, and the Rookie of the Year Award, given to a first-year official who has demonstrated a high aptitude for the duties of a track & field official.
There is also one more award, only given out occasionally. The Ken Caouette Distinguished Service Award is given in honor of Kenneth Caouette, a retired official and WMTFOA member who, among other things, worked as the starter for both the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and was instrumental in the early days of USATF. This award is presented to an official who has made major contributions to the organization over a long period and reflects the highest ideals of the WMTFOA.
